Stay Young Longer With Vitamins

I hate to admit this to myself: I'm just not as young as
I used to be. Yes, I know. This is a silly thing to say,
because it's just so obvious. But I mention this because
deep down in my gut I notice that I'm not as vibrant and
alive now as when I was half my age.
Of course, I only have myself to blame. I mean, who takes
care of themselves like they should? I know what the
basics are. Eat right. Get regular exercise. Have enough
rest and downtime. But somehow life seems to conspire to
make this much harder to actually do than it should be.
But I do have an edge now. I take vitamins. That covers
a multitude of sins in one quick easy step. I know that
you've heard that taking supplemental vitamins is a good
idea as you get older, but let me tell you why.
Your body is simply not as efficient as it used to be as
you get older. That is, it doesn't work as well any more
on both a cellular and a chemical level. Vitamins help
make up the difference and improve the way your body works.
Think of it this way. Taking vitamins is like oiling a
machine. A new machine comes well oiled. Gradually, the
machine ages and fills with dust and the oil starts to gum
up. Then the machine starts to groan and squeak. Or it
might even stop working. Like your car engine.
Your car needs more oil every now and then, and sometimes
it needs a complete change. Now let's get out the oil can
and oil all your machines. The new oil washes the old oil
away. Soon the machine works better than ever. Our
bodies are like that too, except you use vitamins instead of
oil.
(Actually, there is a special type of oil that your body
needs, too. It's called EPA... but that's another story.)
"But hold on here," you might say. "I get enough vitamins
from the food I eat." This was probably true when you were
young. But as you age, you don't absorb vitamins from
your food as well, and at the same time, you need more of them!
You start to feel like you have sand in your gears.
So what should you take? Most people do fine with a good
multivitamin. But if you're taking medications or have
health problems, you may need more than that. You can ask
your doctor or pharmacist, but they are usually not trained
to answer your questions (although most won't admit it.)
Better yet, seek out a nutritional consultant. They can
devise a plan just for you.
However, since you're already here on the internet, you
might as well start your research here. There are a number
of good nutritional and supplement websites that have
loads of valuable, detailed information. Just Google
"vitamins" or "supplements" and you'll be on your way.
Then, take action, and shop for those vitamins and try
them out. Your body will thank you for it, and you'll
thank your body when you feel better.
